Congratulations on publishing your book!
Writing a book takes an incredible amount of work, dedication, and perseverance. We love celebrating that achievement and supporting authors in our community whenever we can.
Because our shelf space is limited, we are not able to carry every title submitted to us. When considering books for our shelves, we take several factors into account including genre, anticipated demand, and overall professionalism of the finished product.
If your book has been published through a traditional publisher and we believe it is a good fit for our customers, we will typically order it through our regular distributors using standard industry terms.
Sales of locally authored books often depend greatly on the author’s own promotion. Sharing with your friends, family, and community that your book is available at First Chapter helps readers discover it and supports our ability to keep it in stock. If most of your promotion directs readers to online retailers rather than brick-and-mortar bookstores, we may not be able to carry your title.
Requirements to stock your title at First Chapter:
Books must be professionally bound with the title printed on the spine
Pricing must be consistent within the genre
At this time we do not offer author consignment. If you choose to leave or mail a copy of your book without prior conversation, it will be considered a free review copy.
Submit Your Book for Consideration
If you would like us to review your book for consideration for our shelves, a bookshop event, or Author Talk series, please complete our Local Author Submission Form below. This allows us to review the details of your title before discussing next steps.
Due to the number of submissions we receive, we may not be able to respond to every inquiry.
